Summer Projects Abound

August 3, 2013

I have been blogless for quite some time but I have been very productive. That is a nice synonym for busy but since busy is a bad word I’ll stick with productive. This summer did not turn out to be the summer of my dreams but I am satisfied with the accomplishments that have been made. I had planned on lazing on the swing reading stories aloud to my girls and floating on a raft sipping lemonade. Well, I did get 3 dips in the pool but the swinging and reading is still waiting to happen.
August is upon us. For some that means the end of summer and the start of school. School; now there is a bad word. For Moms who send their kids off to school; the word school is a refreshing breeze. For those of us who school at home, it means the end of OUR summer vacation; forget the kids!
This summer for me included a lot of traveling; well, a lot for me. We started off with a short anniversary trip to Michigan followed by a long drive to Kansas City to claim our son. From there we took a detour to Arkansas to visit my Dad. We topped it all off with a mid-summer jaunt to Washington DC for the surprise proposal of a special young man to his girlfriend. In the midst of our travels we hosted our 4th annual girl’s camp here at our home, and amongst all these journeys we are also trying to spruce things up a bit. The gardens have been reworked, the waterfall rebuilt, a retaining wall built, the rock patio redone, a vegetable garden planted and several trips to the strawberry and blueberry farms. We have canned jams and baked plenty of pies and fried a good quantity of zucchini. We are now in the process of building a rabbit condominium and chicken coop. Our rabbits are moving up in the world.
So today I want to take you on a visual tour of my home. We’ve all worked hard. I hope you enjoy it.

Good and wonderful and blessed are just a few good words about this site. I am one of the few who get to see it for real but not often enough these days. Jody
