The Void of ‘No Response’

May 7, 2012

“To infinity and beyond!”  “In a galaxy far, far away…”  “Where no man has gone before.”  Clever  catch phrases from iconic movies, or realities in your life?

You put yourself out there.  It may be a relationship, a dream or a God given directive.  With fear and trepidation you stick out your big toe, then take a risk and dive in all the way.

It could be in a relationship.  You have desired fellowship and true relationship.  You think someone has come along to fill the bill.  No response.  Hellooooo, anyone out there?  They must be in a galaxy far, far away.

You have gathered the courage to pursue your dream.  You finally are willing to share the talent that burns within you.  You risk, you expose yourself.  Helloooo, anyone out there?  You are now sure you have gone where no man has gone before.

An assignment from God is firmly wedged in your mind and heart.  There is no escaping the call that pushes you forward.  The love and message that you have to share greets you every morning when you open your eyes.  There is no escaping it’s call.  You step out.  You put your heart out there and pour out your efforts.  Hellooooo… anyone out there?  I think they must be in infinity or beyond.

Life is about risk.  To realize the fullness that is available in life, one must take risk.  The ultimate risk is to risk your heart.  Be it in a friendship, a marriage, pursuing a dream or serving others; the risk of exposing our hearts is required.  Why is it a risk?  You risk rejection; one of the greatest negative forces known to man.  Mankind lies, cheats and steals to avoid rejection.  A person would even be willing to lose their own identity to avoid rejection.  I tell you now, that it is too great a loss.  Never give up your dreams, never stop loving, and never lose your identity!

We love because God first loved us.  He created us to love and be vessels of his love.  A reciprocal response to the love we give and pour out would be wonderful; but those who can love and love and love, give and give and give without ever receiving are rare jewels.  They are the ones who have discovered that it is in giving that we receive.  They are the ones that understand it is in loving that we are fulfilled.  Rejection to them is merely an invitation to seek out another approach.

We create because we have been given a gift.  God has bestowed unique gifts in each of his creations.  They begin as buds; but just as we cannot halt the seasons and the bloom of the bud neither can we stifle the bloom of the gift within us.  The gifts we posses were given to us to share for the benefit of others, because of “God’s love for us and to benefit his kingdom. Those who allow God to use their gifts for the betterment of others do not fall into the trap of approval seeking.  It is always a temptation, but when we use our gifts with the goal of just blessing others we will not seek man’s approval.

We serve and minister because we are called.  The love we give, the ministry we provide, is out of obedience and an answer to the love God has given to US. Those who succeed are those whose focus is on the call and not the response.  Those who love unconditionally are those who can carry on.  They love others not because others return their love; but they love because their focus is the source of their love; Christ.

We humans are too busy.  We have shut each other out and lack time to respond to the love, friendship, talents and service of others.  We fail in giving and we fail in receiving.  I would encourage you today to respond.  Respond to someone’s desire for your time.  Respond to a talent that is shared.  Respond to the love and service someone has offered you.  Then I also encourage you that when no one responds… do not quit.  Keep seeking.  Keep loving.  Keep creating.  Do not look for a response.  Do not seek approval.  Just keep doing it. Your efforts are for infinity and beyond.  You will affect galaxies far, far away and your efforts will make a difference where no man has gone before!

Thank you Debbie! I needed to read that this morning. Our hearts are out there praying for these 2 precious children God has brought into our lives. Praying that God’s will be done and that we will keep loving and service no matter what the outcome is.

YES, right on!! I am reading this again and really need to remember to love & encourage, reach out & pray without expecting anything in return except that I am In Christ. He is the source of my love and desire to serve others!! Praise God from Whom ALL Blessings flow. 🙂

I need to remember it too. I often write in the midst, not because I have arrived.
