The Blood Did it ALL!

April 6, 2012

When I was a child attending church, I never understood why they called Good Friday “good”.  I knew Jesus had died on that day.  How could that be good?

I am here to tell you today, that it truly is not only a good day but a GREAT day.  Today is the day that we commemorate the death of Jesus.  This is the day He shed His blood.  This is the day He took OUR sins.  This is the day of victory.

Many of us desire to be good.  Many of us strive for righteousness, only to fail and fall short.  Often self condemnation occurs and even self loathing.  If we truly understood and received what happened on this day; that would end.

His blood paid the price.  When He said, “It is finished.” it meant it was finished, period, end of sentence.  He did not stutter, there was no conjunction like the word; and or but. The payment due for sin was paid in full.

We are quite silly to think that we could add something of our own to the precious and perfect blood of Christ.  We cannot.  No good works will help.  No sorrow and self hate is enough. Your debt is paid.  The gift – paid in full, waits for you to receive it.

So have you received it?  If so, do you live with the benefits of an all cleansing, all sin removing, all burden lifting blood?  If not, do you want to receive freedom from sin and death, freedom from self effort and freedom from self loathing?  Then just ask Jesus for the gift He paid for you to have.

This Good Friday, let’s focus on the ‘blood’.  The blood did it ALL!
