An Atmosphere for Miracles

February 25, 2012

Rush, rush, rush, hurry, hurry, hurry!  We all have somewhere to go and we are already 15 minutes late.  We live in a society with a broken fast forward button.  That button is stuck on “ON.”  What we all lack time for are 2 of my favorite words; lingering and dwelling.

Although these are two of my favorite words, I, like you get caught in the craziness of life and can be carried downstream a while before I realize that I have forgotten all about those words.  I could linger here quite a while proclaiming to you the value and benefits of those words.  But instead, today I’m here with a wake-up call of why we need them in our lives.

One of my favorite scriptures is Psalm 91.  It is a psalm of protection; but I am here to point out that in verse 1 it clearly says who will be protected.  It is he who “dwells” in the secret place.  We should all be asking ourselves this question on a regular basis; “Am I dwelling in the secret place?” I challenge you to ask yourself this question.  I challenge you to meditate on what dwelling actually means and to know where the secret place is.

Go grab Webster and find out what the definition of dwelling and lingering are because we need them in our lives.  We need them in our lives for many reasons but today’s focus is on miracles.  Do you need a miracle?  Are you struggling with an obstacle that is far too big for you alone?  Have you been crying out for release from a burden, rescue from a struggle or peace in your heart?

We can build an atmosphere that better places us in a position to receive the miracle we need.  We need to build an atmosphere for the dwelling and lingering of the Holy Spirit.  It is in this atmosphere that we are actually abiding in Him.  It is in this atmosphere that we find rest for our minds and souls.  The battle is abated here and our ears are opened to His voice.  But dwelling and lingering do not happen easily in our rushed lifestyles.

Hope and release from our struggles happen in the secret place.  Answers come in the shadow of the almighty.  Miracles can happen in an atmosphere filled with the presence of the Holy Spirit.

Where are you rushing to today?  Does it compare with the peace that passes all understanding?  Take some time to dwell in the secret place.  Take the time to linger in His presence.  That just may be where you find your miracle.
