Our Unseen Foe

February 16, 2012

It hangs there like the mist on a cool morning; visible, felt, but of no real substance.  Substance it lacks, but power to control us is firmly in its grasp.

Dreams are birthed by the Lord.  Hope springs from our hearts.  Determination comes from our minds but fear comes from the enemy.

Fear is very real and sometimes even tangible.  It is our greatest enemy; the weapon that destroys dreams and goals.  For days now I have been encouraging you to dream, write them down, set goals and fulfill your God given calling.  There is an issue though that I did not mention.  The first obstacle in your path is fear.

Fear is an interesting thing.  It taunts us and keeps us from progressing forward.  So we stop pursuing our goals, procrastinate, stagnate and surrender; but the fear remains.  Press forward, face the fear head on and it leaves.  It operates in the opposite manner you would think it does.  We become easily intimidated and back down from what we know we must conquer.  At this point you don’t feel any better.  The fear still hovers like an unseen mist; nagging at you and even tormenting you at times.  The only way to overcome is to do the very thing you fear doing.  At that moment; the fear is conquered.

Review your goals and the list of obstacles you have written down.  Add fear to your list.  Now write down solutions to overcome the fear.  Write specific steps you will take to move forward past the fear that wants to hold you back.

Always remember that He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.  If God is for you who can be against you and you can do all things through Christ who strengthens you.  You are not alone in this world nor do you have to accomplish your dreams and goals with your own strength and power.  Depend on Him, turn to Him and rely on Him.  You will succeed.

Our pastor is doing a series on fear during these early months this year.
I need these reminders about fear. Yes, I have things that make me fearful. God is helping me with them. Thanks for this reminder!! I’m going to print this blog post and put it where I can see it often. Blessings for a wonderful day….Diana

I know how awesome it is to be delivered from a spirit of fear, In Jesus’ Name, and to be filled with the power and love of the Holy Spirit. I have had many challenges in this way throughout my life, even tempermentally, being a non conflict, non risk taker type, & timid soul. God’s Word and the Holy Spirit keep leading me on, to take the next step. It is so true that when we face our deepest fears, we are set free from them. I love the scriptures you shared here Debbie.
