Some Things to Remember

January 12, 2012

Today what I have for you are some important reminders.

First; what are you thinking?  Watch those wandering thoughts.  Continue to learn scriptures to replace negative and wrong thoughts.

Secondly; What are you filling your heart with?  First and foremost our thoughts are affecting our hearts and our belief system.  Spend the next few days really making an honest assessment of what you are storing in your heart.  What things are your eyes seeing?  What things are you listening to?  What words are you reading?  Ask yourself; are you a positive person; the glass half full type or are you usually more of a pessimist or negative; the glass half empty type?  We need to recognize where we need improvement, then God to the rescue.

Finally; submit to the work of the Holy Spirit.  It is He who can change you; not you.  Get that pony in front of the cart.  We always need to adjust this.  Just like the Galatians, after beginning with the Spirit we are now trying to gain our goal by human effort.  Paul called them foolish.  (Galatians 3:1-5)  It is faith in the Word and ITS ability to change, that changes us.  One of my very favorite scriptures is Romans 4:20-22  Talking about Abraham; “Yet he did not waver through unbelief regarding the promise of God, but was strengthened in his faith and gave glory to God, being FULLY persuaded that God had power to do what he had promised.  That is why it was credited to him as righteousness.”  Are we FULLY persuaded?  I love the words in the Bible that are definitive.  Fully means’ containing all that is possible; the highest degree.  WOW!  Let’s just meditate on that one for day or a lifetime.

If you really want to see your dreams fulfilled and achieve the goals that you want to set, it is important to have the correct foundation.  This is it.  So join me as I myself follow my own advice.  It is time for some renewing alright, and it starts with our minds and hearts.

If you need help, a book on the promises of God can also be helpful.  We need to know what His promises are and what our part is in receiving them.  “The Complete Personalized Promise Bible” by Riddle is a good Bible to have.

Here is a challenge for you.  Yes, I am actually challenging you.  For the next four days, until Monday, write three scriptures a day for replacement thoughts, and find one promise of God a day that you want to agree with.  This is a pretty easy challenge.  I’ve prayed for each of you that you will be able to take this first step.  So why not get started right NOW!

Remember to submit your comments for a chance to win my father’s book, “Don’t Retire Renew.”  You may not be anywhere near the age of “renewalment” but the information is good for us all.

I leave you with this story.

There were 2 children put into two different rooms.  One child was put into a room full of toys.  This child sat pouting and complaining.  “These toys will just break anyway.  Why bother playing with them!”  The second child was put in a room full of horse poop.  This child began squealing and laughing and digging through the horse poop.  “With all this horse poop, there has GOT to be a horse in here somewhere!”

Which child are you???

I don’t play with poop but hopefully I’m still the second child ;D lol It seams lately that I have had the “half full” outlook instead of the optimistic outlook on life but I’m thinkin that’s gonna change here soon 🙂 I can’t thank you enough for doing this blog, Debbie. It’s been really helpful to me ever since I started reading it 🙂
