What’s Your Christmas Story

December 19, 2011

Each year it is a tradition at our home for me to write a Christmas story for my family.  Once written and cleverly illustrated with other people’s work, I read the story aloud on Christmas Eve.  Everyone loves a good story, especially when they are the main characters.

In my stories each year, my family members are the characters.  The plots and scenes change but they are there.  Sometimes they are adorable mice.  They have also been pioneers and homesteaders; but in each story they learn something of value, something of importance.

This year my story puts them each at the manger.  None of them remain the same, each life is changed.

How is your story going?  Are you even the main character in your own story?  This Christmas I deeply pray that each person who sees this message will find themselves at the manger.  Once there, how will it change you?

Take a moment; dream, meditate and imagine that you are there.  You are kneeling before the manger.  What do you feel?  What do you think?  What do you say?  Who now do you become?

As a writer and as a human being it was tremendous for me to sit and think about that night.  I wanted to write from the perspective of kneeling at my infant Lord.  This is how we should live.  What do you feel, think, say and do when gazing at your Lord.

Everyone does love a good story.  You are the main character in yours.  Sometimes the scenes change.  How will your story end?  Spend some time at the manger and it WILL change your ending.

“A thrill of hope the weary world rejoices, for yonder breaks a new and glorious morn.  Fall on your knees, oh hear the angel’s voices.  O night divine, O night that Christ was born.”
