Who is Really Who

October 19, 2011

Today as I was viewing my Facebook, I glanced at one of those ads they have on the right side of the page.  It was for Texas Tech graduates, which I am one.  They were looking for women to apply for a Who’s Who of women executives and professionals and it made me think.  Hmmm, I think I defiantly qualify for a Who’s Who for outstanding women.  Just because I’m outstanding at home should not disqualify me.  So, I decided to start my own Who’s Who.

Every now and then I will honor my own inductee into the “Busy Mom Blog Hall of Fame.”  There are no particular criteria that I will choose to select my inductees, only that I think they are pretty darn special.  Oh wait, that means every one of you can qualify!

I think busy moms are a pretty special bunch of gals.  They are the unsung heroes of society.  It is the mamas that truly form and shape our society.  What, you thought it was the politicians; or maybe the TV and movie industry?  Do all those people have moms?  You see, at the top of every chain is the mama.  We are the movers and shakers.  We are the shapers of minds, thoughts and attitudes.  We are the developers of great men and women.  WE ARE THE HOPE OF THE FUTURE.  In case you have not been feeling important lately, read that last paragraph again.

My first inductee into the “Busy Mom Blog Hall of Fame” is Renee Cicalo.  I had only met Renee a few times before her untimely passing.  But I know she deserves to be my first inductee.  The way I know Renee is through her children and she had 12.  That fact alone gives her ‘amazing Mama’ status in my book.

Renee’s son Noah is a constant fixture at my home.  He is a wonderful young man and I love him dearly.  He is currently a student in college and in the Army National Guard.  He is taking 24 hours of classes, attends Civil Air Patrol, plays music for his church and for other ministry opportunities and desires to become an Army Chaplain.  He is funny and loving, a good friend and willing helper.  He is already a success and will do much for the kingdom of God.  His Mama did good.

He seeks to honor his mother by living his life the way she would want him to.  The other children that I know are loving, kind and possess strength and courage beyond my understanding.  Renee did an awesome job.  She poured her time, heart and life into her children and they will honor her in their lives.  She spent most of her hours and days at home.  By the world’s standards she may not have accomplished much.  But the world will one day be impacted by her love and sacrifice.  I already have been.

Dear Mama, most days you may feel overwhelmed, stressed and unappreciated.  Do not lose heart.  You are in the midst of a wonderful adventure, a truly high calling.  Your name is already in the only book that matters; God’s.  So today I honor all of you busy moms.  You have far exceeded all criteria for any Who’s Who that exists.  You are a MOM!

Great encouragement to moms, Debbie. So many times in our ‘busi-ness’ we can begin to feel like we don’t matter.
I only knew Renee through the 2007 K.A.S.H. graduation, but could tell she was one special lady!! Thanks for honoring her today.

Hey, thanks again for this one Debbie 🙂 I think you and mom would have been great friends if you’d had the opportunity.
