Our Great Loss

July 27, 2011

 Dear Friends,

Today I write you with a very heavy heart.  Renee Cicalo a precious mother of 12 children and Zack her 17 year old son and Eden her 15 year old daughter were tragically lost in a car accident yesterday.  Zack and my boys were friends.

It has been a difficult night with many tears, frustration and anger.  It is never easy to face death and the loss of precious friends and family is unbearable.

Tragedy leaves gaping holes that can never be filled.  There are wounds that will ache for years to come.  There are precious little children who have lost their mother.  A young man’s  and girl’s lives have been cut short, so where do we find encouragement and comfort?

Our best hope is always Jesus.  That is where Renee, Zack and Eden put their trust and hope.  They knew Him and they loved Him and now they are walking and rejoicing with Him.

Because my blog is dedicated to moms and it is my deep desire for all of us mothers to slow down and find the treasures we have in our children; I want to honor Renee today.  She was a mother totally devoted to her children.  She gave them the very best, herself.  She was an absolute success because she was there for them.  She loved them and trained them.  Her efforts shined in her grown children who are blessings to all that know them.  Her son Noah, who has spent countless hours at our home, is a complete joy and a 4th son.

Parents, I have said that we have such a short time with our children.  It is so unfortunate that we never know how short.  It is at times like this that we left, are given the opportunity to change course if we choose.  First and foremost we need to be sure that we are on the road with Jesus.  He is the only road that leads to true life.  Then we need to make sure that we are enjoying every moment we have with those we love.

Thank you dear friends for reading my blog.  Thank you for giving me your special gift, your time.  Today, keep the Cicalo family in your prayers.  Today, love, appreciate and draw near all those you love.  And remember Renee, Zack and Eden three wonderful people who made a wonderful difference in this world.

Oh Debbie I’m so very sorry to hear this!! I met Renee when our daughter, Caitlin, graduated with K.A.S.H. in ’07. She was such a sweet, pleasant lady. My heart aches for this family. It sounds like you are close to the family. I’m sure someone is setting up meals, help with children, etc. Right? If so, and you know how I can help please let me know. If no one is doing this I know of a couple of websites where a schedule can be set up for ladies to sign up to take in meals, help with childcare, housekeeping, etc. Call me (868-2543) if I can be of any help at all…..I truly would like to help this hurting family. Thanks for sharing.
    Hugs,
    Diana

I knew Zak a little bit from civil air patrol. He text-ed me every now and then. And every time i had a relationship problem or was just feeling down that day, Zak would always be there for me. I miss him dearly as im sure many others do too. But i do know that he is in a better place now and he will always be in our hearts. The Cicalo family will always be in my prayers. -Elizabeth Cournia
